I don’t take photos to collect nice pictures; I take them to remember where I’ve been. This was my favorite photo.

Real film, of course. Scanned.

You know where I’d rather be today? 7 December 2009, 15:04
Back here: Cumbe Mayo. Ancient limestone cliffs outside Cajamarca, Peru. Really high up (3,500 m). Best air I’ve ever breathed.

Shameless plug: my friend J. recently put up a site of some of his photos, largely nature stuff. Check it out.

Documentary still of the day: Malecon, Malecon, a donde has ido? 4 November 2009, 19:55
While other people were helping translate a lot of my footage, I took a break from editing the epic Peru documentary, but now I’m back at it, importing transcriptions into FCP clip markers. I have yet to go through the additional footage from my Flip, the stuff I shot ostensibly ‘for fun,’ but here’s one: an HD still from the ocean view out my window in Lima, as reflected off P.’s bedroom window. I like it because it looks more like a memory than a physical location. I thought at some point the longing for this place would go away, but it hasn’t.

Mr. President O. came to campus today. I watched as his motorcade pulled up and the presidential limo pulled backwards into the back entrance of Kresge Auditorium, and then some people rushed out of the motorcade, and that was it. I was not invited to hear the speech because, ostensibly, I don’t study climate stuff.
HOWEVER, just before O. arrived, some other climate students did do an action as part of the global >350 (ppm sustainable carbon emissions goal) campaign, and I took part. The laptops are for techy-affect. I’m the one in the alpaca hat, por supuesto.
