A quick stop in the pottery studio to make a cookie jar

For my workshop class this week, we had an assignment to do an art project that either describes or a place on campus or an installation that occurs at a specific place at MIT — naturally, I chose the pottery studio. DD helped out by taking still shots which I turned into stop animation (+ unobtrusive fx filters). I also recorded ambient sound but decided not to use it.

In order to make a jar with a lid on the wheel, you first have to make an enclosed bubble of clay from which, when half dry, you cut off the top and add a handle to make the lid. Mine came out as more of a melting beehive, but I’m happy with it.
