Just to let all eight of you devoted readers know, tomorrow I leave for Italy to join DD’s family in the breezy wilderness of Tuscany. I bring with me about five inches of packets to read, plus two novels (one exceeds 900 pages), plus a few highlighters and a laptop. And that’s just one week’s worth of required homework. Vacation? Not quite. But at least there will be mozzarella and potentially, Firenze leather boots.
It’s been a shocking NINE YEARS since I’ve been back to Western Europe, although I’ve ached for it daily. Keep checking the mobile blog for updates, and perhaps this blog too, since apparently there is free internet where I’m staying. Which also means you can Gchat or Skype me at ‘pazonada’.
After successfully recruiting many of you for our TalkShoe call-in show on media topics, including the online commentary surrounding the first presidential election this week, the site’s server went down and none of us could call in. ¡Que frustrado!
Not to fear: on Sunday, 10/12 at 9 p.m. we will try again!
1. Writer/multimedia position at a great NGO. Email me for details.
2. Volunteer video teacher for Sociedad Latina. Email them for details.
In non-employment news, it’s starting to get a bit cold. I biked in today. Dot Ave smelled like raw dough and old fruit and exhaust, but in a great way. Reminds you you’re alive, so the cold almost doesn’t even matter. But you know where it’s not cold? Tuscany. You know who’s going to Tuscany? Me. In a few days. [My shouts of glee are stifled only by the unsubstantiated prospect of not having internet while I'm there, severely limiting my academic and professional capacities.]
We were in the Banshee tonight, an Irish bar/restaurant in Dorchester. To our surprise, there was a live Irish fiddle jam going on in the next table. Wish this phone post feature could allow for more than 20 seconds of audio!

DD & I have started a movie review call-in show under our band name, Bubby Helicopter. You can follow the program or subscribe to the feed. This week’s reviews: VICKY CHRISTINA BARCELONA; TRAITOR; BURN AFTER READING.
You’ll notice that a new feature is enabled on this blog — when you leave a comment, you now have the option to write text OR record audio or webcam video. Sure, the plugin comes with some annoying embedded advertising, but until I can hack that away, enjoy!
I am hoping that, for the love of God, this will encourage some of you — and you know who you are — to leave comments.
